We’re an indie magazine looking for wonderful, curious people like YOU! Whether it’s your first time or you’re a seasoned submitter, we encourage everyone to submit what they have. If you’re on the fence, we say DO IT! You never know what could happen, and we’re always here to answer your questions.

We hope this guide will help you in your submission process.

1. Address 

• We ask that all submissions be sent to pornstarmartinimagazine@gmail.com

• Please determine which magazine section your piece fits in (can be multiple)

• Section info below

• Please include your name, the desired section of your piece, and the season & year of submission in your subject line

• Example: Jane Doe Features Summer 2024 Submission

2. Sections

For editing, pieces are split into 4 sections with descriptions, word limits, and submission limits as follows:

Fiction:

• Go crazy

• 1000 words per piece

• For prose fiction, please limit submissions to 1 piece per quarterly issue

Poetry:

• For poems that are linked/need to be published all together:

• Please send your linked poems in one single document with a note indicating that they are linked 

• This counts as 1 submission

• 1 linked poetry submission max per quarterly issue

• For non-linked/individual poems:

• For multiple submissions, please send your pieces in one single document

• Each poem counts as 1 submission

• 3 individual poems submission max per quarterly issue

Features:

• Longer digests, creative nonfiction, personal essays

• 1200 words per piece

• 1 piece submission max per quarterly issue

• Catchy pieces, vignettes, mood-setting, observations about life

• 100-500 words per piece

• 2 piece submission max per quarterly issue

• For multiple submissions, please send your pieces in one single document

Reviews & Criticism:

• Book, film, & music reviews, cultural criticism, op-eds, sharp analysis

• 800-1000 words per piece

• 2 piece submission max per quarterly issue

• For multiple submissions, please send your pieces in one single document

Art & Photography submissions:

• Email us your file with “ART” in the section part of your subject line

• Any medium welcome

• No submission limit!

Collaborations, features, and reviews for artists:

• Want us to shout out or review your creative work? We’d love to collaborate!

3. Simultaneous submissions

• We accept simultaneous submissions to other publications

• We ask that you let us know and withdraw your submission should it be accepted elsewhere

4. Community

We seek to be a wholly inclusive publication. If there’s anything we can do to assist you, please let us know. Please note that we’re a BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ safe space. Any hate speech or writing that violates our community values will be rejected immediately. 

5. Note to Contributors

• Since we are a small indie magazine, we are not yet able to pay our contributors. However, we’d love to keep promoting your writing and art!

• Currently, we aim to produce a printable document that will be viewed online
